Zlatan Fazlagic

Zlatan developed his first commercial website in 1999 for the faculty of Physical Education at SIAST. Since then he has been involved in development of more than 200 websites and numerous desktop, web and mobile applications. Zlatan’s approach to every project is client-centric with emphasis on sustainability following the project completion.


In addition to his work at Look Matters, Zlatan teaches New Product Development, Online Marketing and Social Media courses at the Continuing Education Program at the University of Regina. He has also conducted seminars on Relationship Marketing, Social Media and Emerging Online Strategies for the members of the Regina Chamber of Commerce, Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership and Canadian Association for Family Enterprise.


Zlatan has a degree in Electronics Systems Engineering from U of R and a diploma in Computer Engineering Technology from SIAST. Zlatan serves as a member of an advisory board for Electronics Systems Enginering program at SIAST.

You must have prior experience developing relationships with Owners, Presidents and General Managers of small to medium sized companies where you sold a product or service that was based on value and not on price. Strong closing skills and a willingness to prospect is essential to this position.

PRIMARY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY

Your primary role is to generate a large quantity of new business leads and prospects for the firm according to a pre-defined set of client criteria. The new business developer generates research on prospects and assembles reports to use in attracting and inciting prospects interest in the agency. Also, the new business developer maintains the prospect database, makes and keeps appointments, cold calls leads and prospects, maintains and follows up on regular new business developer mailings to prospects, looks for new leads, creates prospect profiles, and stays up to date on correspondence relating to all prospect contacts. In the future this role will involve management of other new business development staff.

Seeing how mobile and tablet traffic is reaching 60% of overall traffic on our client sites , such as shown above, I thought it would be a good time to write another blog post that explains responsive web technology.

A responsive website is one that adapts itself to the screen size of the device it is being viewed on. Unlike mobile sites, a responsive website doesn’t care if you are on a desktop or a phone or what operating system you have. All it cares about is what's the width of your screen. The advantage of this approach is that you need only one website which is not the case with mobile sites that also require desktop versions. The disadvantage of a responsive site is that it can be slower than a mobile site due to its requirement to handle multiple screen sizes.

One of the most difficult things in business is determining what price to sell your products or services for. In most cases, businesses base their prices on the cost of production, as they are unsure of the value they provide. For example, a jewelry maker may sell their jewelry at (x) times the price of silver. In another example, an accounting firm will figure out that they are paying a bookkeeper $25/hour, and thus bill out $75/hour as per the rule of thirds. If you aren’t familiar with the rule of thirds, it states that the revenues are made of three equal parts: cost of production, overhead and profit. No matter what multiple is used, businesses that do this are selling commodity instead of value.

During your testing you’ve noticed that the product is applicable to a market that is beyond your initially thought target and there is a very good chance that the demand will be huge. Recently, I realized that one of the more annoying things on the web is actually incredibly beneficial to the future of humanity. I am talking about reCAPTCHA, the annoying form field you need to fill out every time you are creating an account on a website or making an online purchase. I can’t tell you how many times I didn’t get the word right and then had to re enter it repeatedly until I switched to the sound option, only to realize that I couldn’t quite hear it properly either. It turns out that I am not the only one who has had trouble with it, as some Aussies have gone so far as to launch a petition to kill CAPTCHA.
