Look Agency Blog
On Monday, September 30th, Looker Andrew Rathwell asked everyone to let our guard down, travel outside of our comfort zones and tackle an eight hour period of #NoEmail in his well written and perfectly planned blog.
The concept behind this initiave was really quite simple - relieve the constant (and at times overwhelming) pressure of e-mail overload and return to the days of human contact and interaction. Dust off our phones, have face-to-face conversations and most importantly, get to know the people we interact with daily through the long lost art of physical conversation.
At 8AM on Thursday, October 3rd we accepted this challenge and the results were quite amazing!
Cognitive dissonance can be extremely painful.
The good news is that it often forces you to adapt or experiment to find the truth.
Some days I love email like melted butter on warm banana bread.
Other days I dislike it with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns.
It reminds me of the little girl with a curl on her head. When she was good, she was very very good, but when she was bad…she was horrid.
Today email is horrid.
Three days with the kids on my own prevented me from my usual habit of picking off emails over the weekend. This morning I am facing an inbox that I am not too proud to admit made me want to call for an adult.
Why must every week start by shoveling out an in-box?
What if you could give yourself a break from your email?
We are going to try it for just one day.
This Thursday October 3rd, 2013 will be the Look Matters #NoEmail challenge.
We may not last much of the day; but we are going to try to kill email…or at least cathartically cut it a bit. The Outbox is going to get it first.
Before it is an “In” in yours, it was an “Out” in someone else’s. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
